Car air conditioning service and recharging in Tvrdošín

Air conditioning cools the car in summer and demists the windows in winter – it should work all year round. We recharge, clean and repair the air conditioning of cars and vans. And when a line is cracked or chafed through, you don’t have to wait weeks for the original part: we make you a new one.

What we do on air conditioning

  • A/C recharging Recovery, vacuuming, a leak check and a refill with the exact amount of refrigerant and oil.
  • Finding refrigerant leaks We find and fix the leak before we refill the system.
  • A/C disinfection We get rid of mould and bacteria and replace the cabin (pollen) filter.
  • Compressor and A/C parts Repair and replacement of the compressor, compressor clutch, condenser, evaporator, receiver drier and expansion valve.
  • A/C electrics Pressure sensors, fans and controls.
  • A/C lines made and repaired We repair a cracked or chafed A/C line or make a new one.

Cracked A/C line? We make a new one

The aluminium pipes and rubber hoses of an A/C system corrode over time, crack from vibration or chafe through against another part. A new original line is expensive, often has a long lead time and for older cars is no longer available at all. So we repair the damaged line or make a new one modelled on the original.

  • No waiting for a part from the central warehouse.
  • Considerably cheaper than the original.
  • A solution for older cars, vans and motorhomes too.
  • Leak check and recharge after the repair, all in one place.

When to have the air conditioning checked

  • The A/C does not cool, or barely Usually refrigerant is missing – it is leaking somewhere.
  • An unpleasant smell from the vents Mould and bacteria in the evaporator: it needs disinfecting.
  • Noise when you switch the A/C on The compressor or its clutch.
  • The windows mist up and won’t clear The A/C is not drying the air.
  • An oily patch on a hose or joint That is where refrigerant is escaping, together with oil.
  • The A/C cools for a while, then stops Icing up, an electrical fault or too little refrigerant.

How often to service the air conditioning

Even a perfectly sealed system loses about 10 % of its refrigerant a year. We therefore recommend a check and top-up every 1–2 years, and disinfection with a new cabin filter once a year – ideally in spring, before the season.

Run the A/C in winter too

The oil in the refrigerant lubricates the compressor and the seals. And because the A/C dries the air, the windows demist faster.

How an A/C recharge works

  1. Recovery

With an A/C service station we recover the old refrigerant and measure how much there was.

  2. Vacuum

We vacuum the system – this removes moisture and proves it is tight.

  3. Refill

We fill in the exact amount of refrigerant and oil the manufacturer specifies.

  4. Check

We measure the temperature at the vents and the pressures in the system.

First a tight system, then the refill

If the system leaks, we find the leak first, so you don’t pay for refrigerant that only ends up in the air.

Frequently asked questions about air conditioning

Can you repair a cracked A/C hose?

Yes, we repair A/C lines or make new ones modelled on the original. There is no need to wait for the original part.

Why does my air conditioning smell?

Moisture settles in the evaporator and mould and bacteria grow there. Disinfection and a new cabin filter help.

Is it worth recharging an A/C that keeps leaking?

No – the leak has to be found and fixed first, otherwise the refrigerant will be gone again within a few weeks.

Do you also service the A/C in vans and motorhomes?

Yes, we recharge and repair air conditioning in vans, motorhomes and commercial vehicles up to 7.5 t too.
